A Prayer for 1.6.14

Background:

"I think we have forgotten that we were born in the middle of a battlefield.... Two thousand years ago, Jesus rallied the troops and sounded the charge with a call to spiritual arms," pg 87, All In, Mark Batterson.

The following scripture by Jesus tells us that we are to be on the offense. Faithfulness does not mean the status quo or holding the fort. "It's storming the gates of hell and taking back enemy territory that belongs to God", pg 87 All In, Mark Batterson.  As we begin a new year, we are easily reminded that God does not need comfortable Christians. He needs all in leaders, leaders that will muster up the moral courage to take a stand and then act on it. Whom do you need to stand up for at work or what do you need to stand up for at work? Are you working in a Godless environment? Are your company's ethical standards on track? Is your business free of pornography? Is your place of work looking out for the physical and economic needs of its people? Are there lost people at work? Are customers and vendors needs a priority?

Scripture Verse: Matthew 16:18, New International Version (NIV)

18 And I tell you that you are Peter,[a] and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades[b] will not overcome it.

Prayer for the Week:

Lord, give me the courage to take a stand at work, to be an uncomfortable Christian. Lord, give me the strength to do what I can. Help me to understand that if it does not involve risk, it doesn't exercise faith. If it will build Your Kingdom, I will storm the gates of hell. AMEN.

Christmas demonstrates that God loves you more than your net worth!

Mary, the mother of Jesus, was a simple Jewish woman who may have heard about God and the coming Messiah from the public reading of scriptures. Before Mary did anything of real significance she had found favor with God. In Luke 1: 30 NIV, we learn: But the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God." In other words, G...

How to Live Sent

According to Dr. Amy Sherman, there are at least 4 ways to Live Sent:

1. Bloom where you are planted.

Care to help build the Kingdom right where God has you assigned in the marketplace?

2. Start something new.

Do you have a passion for addressing an unmet community need? Consider forming  either a for profit or nonprofit company and start something new.

3. Give your skills (vocational) away to a community ministry.

Is there a community ministry that could benefit from your vocational skills and talents?

4. A Church Big Vision for the City.

Does your church have a Big Vision for the City? Do you have one and want to encourage your church to consider helping you to develop it?
